Glorious sunshine welcomed the launch of Community Rail Week at Yatton station on Monday. The week’s activities are shining a spotlight on the lesser-known community side of the railway and promoting its benefits at a national and local level.

Jools Townsend, Chief Executive of the Community Rail Network and Heather Cullimore, Manager for the Severnside Community Rail Partnership (which is celebrating its 20th year), opened events.

The Strawberry Line Café and Cycle Hire provided delicious refreshments and the opportunity to try the wide range of bikes they have for hire, appealing to all ages and abilities.

On hand were the Friends of Yatton Station guiding us around their station garden, complete with the best compost bins you will ever see.
