At the Western Gateway Sub-national Transport Body, we are committed to driving sustainable change and reducing carbon emissions in our region.

We’re excited to announce that WSP, City Science and Steer have developed an online tool, called the STB Carbon Assessment Playbook (CAP), to support Local Transport Authorities with setting their transport decarbonisation policy and strategy. The CAP will support Local transport authorities with the process for Quantifiable Carbon Reductions (required in future Local Transport Plans (LTPs) and disaggregate the emissions data by place type. This involves quantifying the expected decarbonisation impact of interventions that LTAs include within their LTP.

The tool has four key components:

1. Report – summarising bespoke baseline information for each authority, tailored around carbon reduction reporting requirements

2. Baseline dashboard –a link to the corresponding dashboard developed by each STB to interrogate their baseline emissions model

3. Intervention cards – summarising characteristics, impacts and co-benefits of each intervention within the Playbook

4. Policy builder – enabling development of user-defined policy packages that combine different interventions in different locations, presenting quantification of resultant impacts against underlying baseline.
