Western Gateway STB helps push forward the new Bristol to Oxford direct daily rail serivce

The Bristol to Oxford direct daily rail service started up again on Monday 18 May, after 23 years!

In a joint effort with England’s Economic Heartland and Network Rail, Western Gateway STB produced a Case for Change document that detailed the need and benefits of the service.

Not only have rail services increased to run every 2 hours Monday-Saturday, but now passengers have a direct route between Bristol and Oxford, without the need to change trains at Didcot and Reading. This all-day service cuts journey times to under 1 hour 15 minutes between Oxford and Bristol, and just over 30 minutes to Swindon.

Great Western Railway has been working hard behind the scenes to get this up and running.

You can read the Case for Change document over on our website here.
