Western Gateway STB appoints new Chair and Vice Chair

The Western Gateway Sub-national Transport Body (STB) is pleased to announce the appointment of a new leadership team to guide the organisation’s work improving connectivity and sustainable transport across the region.

Councillor Chris Willmore has been appointed Chair of Western Gateway STB, succeeding Councillor Manda Rigby.

Cllr Willmore currently serves as Councillor for Yate North and Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Infrastructure at South Gloucestershire Council. With a background in environmental and planning law, she has a long-standing commitment and wealth of knowledge to sustainable development, community engagement and climate action.As Chair of the Western Gateway STB, Councillor Willmore will help drive forward strategic transport planning, improve infrastructure and make sure there is a strong emphasis on sustainable growth and net zero ambitions.

Councillor Ed Plowden has been appointed Vice Chair, succeeding the newly appointed Chair.

Cllr Plowden represents the Windmill Hill ward in Bristol and is Chair of the Transport and Connectivity Committee. Ed has been a pioneer in transport, and previously served as Head of Local and Sustainable Transport, where he led work to improve road safety, implement 20mph limits, expand cycling infrastructure, and grow public transport use, which gained national recognition.

Together, Councillors Willmore and Plowden bring a shared passion for greener, and better connected communities.
