100k for Rural Mobility Pilot Schemes – applications now open!

100k for Rural Mobility Pilot Schemes – applications now open!

Through the development of our South West Mobility Strategy and our engagement with communities, we’ve now identified a case for a sweep of rural mobility pilots to be developed across the region. These will help address key challenges like sustainability, connectivity, decarbonisation and accessibility (to name a few), making them more liveable communities.

Along with our neighbouring STB, Peninsula Transport, together we’ll be funding up to £100,000 to support successful pilot applications.

To be in with a chance of having your project taken forward, you must demonstrate how your pilot project addresses at least one of the six Grand Challenges detailed in the rural mobility prospectus. These are:

  1. How can rural transport be made more operationally sustainable in the long term?
  2. How can the Net Zero challenge be met in rural areas?
  3. How can rural mobility be more equitable for residents and visitors?
  4. How can accessing daily needs be made more affordable for residents and visitors?
  5. How can the needs of rural communities be met more locally?
  6. How can tourism-related mobility become more sustainable?

In addition to their beauty, these countryside and coastal places also offer economic, environmental and technological benefits, but are often forgotten in favour of urban areas. Together, let’s help put these rural places on the map.

The deadline for applications is 8 December 2024. Good luck.
