Here at Western Gateway STB, we were honoured to receive top prize in the Innovation category at this year’s CIHT South West awards last week, as well as third prize in the overall ‘Transportation Project of the Year.’ The award was presented for our pioneering work on our Spatial Planning Tool. This tool seeks to close the gap between transport and land use planning by providing a proportionate, integrated methodology for assessing the suitability, connectivity and carbon generation of potential new housing growth sites.
The SPT has been developed with WSP, and informed and guided by transport and land use planning officers across all our nine authorities. We are proud to share this award with all of them.
We were also proud to share the stage with the Mobility Hubs team from West of England Combined Authority, who won the Collaboration award, and with partners from Gloucestershire County Council and on behalf of Wiltshire Council, who were commended on their Cheltenham-Gloucester cycleway and LCWIP Scenario Sifting Tool respectively.
It was lovely to see good work across our region celebrated.
