Do you have a rural transport initiative you want to trial? Then we want to hear from you.
Over the past couple of years, we’ve helped to fund six exciting schemes across the Western Gateway region, from a night shuttle bus between Bridport and Lyme Regis, to helping a DRT service improve its marketing, to a low carbon shared mobility club – to name a few.
Now, your idea or scheme could be one of the next chosen for our third round of rural mobility pilots, with up to £50,000 on offer across schemes!
All you need to do is fill in our application before midnight on Sunday 8 November 2026.
The application process:
To be up for consideration, you must demonstrate that your scheme acknowledges the following areas of focus, as outlined in the accompanying prospectus to the application:
- Considers the six grand challenges faced in rural transport
- Considers the needs of users and the barriers they face
- Considers the geography of the area and its boundaries
- Considers a range of interventions possible
- Focuses on decarbonised, active, publicly available and shared forms of transport, and local journeys
- Considers the ‘Avoid, Shift, Improve’ approach to decarbonising mobility and consider how carbon can be reduced through each stage of the pilot process
- Considers who will lead the project, across all sectors
- Considers partial funding alongside the Western Gateway STB contribution
- The requirement for monitoring and evaluation, and sharing of learnings from the project
